Brazil and Argentina - agreement for antitrust law

Brazil and Argentina signed, on October 16, 2003, an agreement for cooperation in antitrust law. The agreement establishes that both countries will try to implement similar analysis criteria and requirements for mergers and acquisitions and send the results for Paraguay and Uruguay. The governments will also have to consider the impacts of the operations throughout the entire Mercosur, and not only in each country individually. The agreement was not yet ratified by the Brazilian National Congress.
