Brazil’s Congress has approved the pending Brazil-Russia income tax treaty. Legislative Decree 376/2007 approving the treaty was published in the official gazette on December 24.
The treaty, which generally follows the OECD model income tax treaty, was signed in Brasilia on November 22, 2004. For it to become effective in Brazil, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva must issue a presidential decree incorporating the treaty into Brazil’s legal system.
