In December, Brazil’s Central Bank issued Circular No. 3,339, which determines close monitoring by banks and other financial institutions of financial transactions of politically exposed persons. Among those are individuals in elective functions, ministries, officers of state-owned companies. The purpose of the Circular is to fight and prevent corruption and money laundering.
