Revenue department issues private letter ruling on services export

The Federal Revenue Department issued a private letter ruling _ clarifying the tax treatment applicable to exports of services. According to the ruling, exports of services are exempt from COFINS even if payment for those services are made by the foreign client’s Brazilian agent or representative or by means of a deduction from client’s Brazilian receivables. _(Processo de Consulta No. 370/07)
